Vishwakarma Maritime Institute (VMI), Pune established in 2009 is promoted by Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust. VMI provides certificate and graduate courses in Marine Engineering and Nautical Science disciplines. The institute is headed by Capt. Asheesh Kaushik, as director, having sailed as a Navigating Officer for over two decades with eight years as master mariner, brings onboard, administrative and managerial expertise required for VMI.

Diploma in Nautical Science – DNS

Eiligibility:

Qualification :

Pass in 10+2 examination from a recognized Board / University with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), with not less than 60% marks in PCM aggregate. OR With Physics as an individual subject in any one of the years of B.Sc., with not less than 60% marks in the final year of B.Sc., from a recognized University provided that the candidate must have passed 10 + 2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized Board. OR B.E./B. Tech. or it's equivalent degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE/UGC.

Marks :

Should have passed with not less than 60% marks in English as a separate subject, at either 10th or 12th
standard or in the Degree programme conducted by a recognized Board/ University.

Age :

Not more than 25 years of age as on the date of commencement of course.

Medical Fitness :

Medically Fit
Eye-sight: 6/6 in each eye without visual aids & Normal colour vision.

Admission Procedure :

1.	It is mandatory for all the candidates to qualify in the Common Entrance Test conducted by IMU – Indian Maritime University.
2.	The eligible candidates in all respects i.e. educational qualifications, age, physical and medical standards, eye-sight is advised to apply for the Common Entrance Test conducted by IMU. The admission for this programme is offered twice a year, i.e. in January/February and July/August.
3.	Candidates who qualify in the Common Entrance Test conducted by IMU will be selected on the basis of Psychometric test / Written test / Interviews conducted by the institute.

Graduate Marine Engineering -GME (1 year):

Eiligibility:

Qualification :		Graduate in Mechanical Engineering / Naval Architects / Automation Engineering from AICTE approved / UGC recognised colleges.
Marks :		Min. 60% marks in final year AND min. 60% marks in English subject in X / XII std or in Degree examinations.
Age :		Not more than 28 years of age as on the date of commencement of course.
Medical Fitness :		Candidates should be medically fit and without color blindness. Eyesight should be at least 6/12 in each eye without visual aids.

As per stipulations from Directorate General of Shipping (D.G.) every candidate desirous of joining as an officer or an engineer on ships has to undergo one year of pre-sea training ashore. Pre-sea training can be undertaken in any one of the D.G. approved pre-sea training institutes across India.
